Obesity is the serious problem. To come over this there are lots of methods like exercise, water therapy, and diet pills etc. but before lose weight you know the measure of overweight and obesity. Peoples generally agree that women with more than 30 percent body fat and men with more than 25 percent body fat are obese. However, it is difficult to measure body fat precisely.
The solution is Body mass index (BMI). BMI is the medical standard used to measure overweight and obesity. It uses a mathematical formula based on a person's height and weight. BMI equals weight in kilograms divided by square of height in meters.
BMI = kg/m2
To determine BMI using pounds and inches, multiply your weight in pounds by 704.5, and then divide the result by square of your height in inches.
Persons having BMI of 18.5 or less are underweight. BMI between 18.6 and 24.9 is normal. Persons having BMI between 25 and 29.9 are overweight. Persons having BMI between 30 and 39.9 are obese. Persons having BMI of 40 or above are extremely obese. |
