Ok it is now the new year. Many of us have made the usual resolutions to lose some pounds. Then let's get on with it. Drop the pretext of resolution. It only serves to frustrate you when you fall of the wagon.
Take a small step approach. Don't cut out everything at once. It's too much to tackle at one time and you'll only end up feeling overwhelmed. That can just cause you to fall back into old habits. If you just can't give up that nightly scoop of ice cream, try a substitute. Have a serving of yogurt instead. There are lots of diet hints coming soon that will make your efforts more successful.
Does the walk to the mailbox make you have to stop and catch your breath for the walk back to the house? Well start your exercise routine slowly and build up from there. Ten minutes a day is a good starting point and better than no activity at all. Think of ways to burn calories around your house in your everyday activities. And then there's always that old adage of "Grab your mate, not your plate".
This will require some planning so do feel the need to just jump into something. Have yourself checked out by your physician. Examine your diet and exercise options. Get the tools you will need to get you started and then... JUST DO IT! |
