Another holiday season approaches. It's the time of year for celebrations with family and friends. Of course this means food. House parties, company parties, going out to clubs, Drinks, hors d'oeuvres, food, food, food.

And then of course there is the weight gain. So by Jan 2, after we have rolled out of bed, that trip to the scale can be quite a shocker. The screams can be heard for miles around.

Before it comes to that, let's try a little self control and rational thinking around before we drown ourselves in the onion dip. Whether you're hosting the party or being the life of the party be sure there are plenty of tasty choices that won't make you look like the Christmas goose.

Hmmm some good party choices would be shrimp with cocktail sauce instead of sausage balls. Crudite instead of anything fried. Have a glass of wine instead of a mixed drink.

You don't want to skip meals before a big party but you could have a healthy snack before you go out. Have a small apple, the fiber will fill you up and keep you from over indulging.

Just think in terms of portions too. Never have more of any one thing than you have fingers on one hand icon_biggrin.gif

It can be a rule of thumb so to speak to help someone who is trying to keep the pounds from creeping up during the holiday season. It's the time of year when food is more plenitful during the celebrations.

We all tend to overindulge. Attending several parties over a 30 day period can mean undoing all a dieter's hard work. Then we are left to start over with the usual New Year's resolution. So head it off at the pass by taking careful measures now.
