I have a major weakness... food but more specifically, ice cream. It started when I was little and the Baskin Robbins shop was right down the block from my first home. That Baskin Robbins is still there and only the signs and owners have changed. I am particularly fond of any chocolate combination but that's another obsession. Sweet, creamy, melt on my lips and straight to my belly.

My affair with BR continued thru my college years. I was such a frequent customer in a BR in Atlanta, that the owner knew me on sight. One day as I came to get my chocolate raspberry truffle fix, when he saw me walking thru the door, he immediately began apologizing because it had been removed from rotation. He'd even tried to save some for me but was unable to reach me. A truly good man!

Occasionally I would live in an area not conveniently located near a BR, so how was I to scratch my ice cream itch? Lo and behold one day as I strolled down the frozen food isle, I came across the holy grail of ice cream, Chunky Monkey!!! I thought I would give it a try since it seemed to have all I desired in ice cream. Banana flavored ice cream (not that artificial crap either), chocolate strips, and walnuts. Ohhh heaven! From the first pint I was hooked. Eventually I told friends about it and soon after I would get a rude phone call because I'd gotten another person addicted to it. We all walk around with the Monkey on our backs.

I found out if you work for Ben and Jerry's you get 3 pints a day free! Good lord, they'd have to roll me out the door. After reading the label my mother once remarked that it says it serves 4 but wondered why I often polished it off in 2 sittings. Sure it serves 4 but only if you eat it one spoonful at a time!

So should I sue Ben and Jerry's for putting this Monkey on my back? Perhaps I should join MA (Monkey Anonymous). If they didn't make it taste so good perhaps I could lose this 6 inches off my waist. If it weren't so delicious perhaps I would be willing to share. I've only shared it once with my own mom. I had a brief flirtation with doughnut sex but there again is another story. I always came back to the Monkey.
