Life & Style's editor-in-chief Sheryl Berk today announced two senior level editorial appointments.
Joe Bargmann and Tamara Glenny have been named executive editors and will both report to Life & Style editor Samantha Meiler.
"Today's announcement demonstrates our commitment to building upon Life
& Style's early success in the marketplace," said Mark Pasetsky, vice
president, Bauer Publishing, and general manager, Life & Style. Life &
Style average issue sales total more than 460,000 during the first half of 2005.
In addition, Bauer Publishing will be expanding Life & Style's distribution
by 50,000 racks bringing the total racks to more than 160,000 nationwide.
"Joe and Tamara are seasoned editorial executives who will play a major
role in all areas of Life & Style," said Sheryl Berk, editor-in-chief,
Life & Style. "Joe brings to Life & Style an excellent combination
of investigative reporting, coupled with a strong women's service background.
Tamara's impressive experience spans all areas of lifestyle that are crucial
to Life & Style's success."
Bargmann will be focused on leading Life & Style's news operation on the
East and West coast, and Glenny will be supervising the magazine's fashion,
beauty and lifestyle sections.
Prior to joining Life & Style, Bargmann was an editor-at-large for Budget
Living and wrote for the New York Times and Esquire among others. Throughout
his career, Bargmann has held numerous senior-level positions for a variety
of women's service magazines, including executive editor for Golf for Women,
deputy editor for Glamour, executive editor for Cosmopolitan and senior editor
for Seventeen. Earlier in his career, Bargmann wrote feature stories and investigative
pieces for St Louis magazine, The Boston Phoenix and Columbia Daily Tribune.
Bargmann graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia Journalism School.
Glenny most recently served as a full-time freelance editor for Us Weekly.
Prior to Us, Glenny held various senior-level positions including executive
editor for YM, deputy editor for Seventeen, senior editor at InStyle, and managing
editor for Martha Stewart Living. Glenny earned an M.A. from Harvard University
and a B.A. from Sussex University.
